Wolf riddle is a free app inspired by jigsaw puzzles. Test your wits against a set of picture puzzles that must be pieced together bit by bit. If you win, you will be rewarded with virtual coins to boost your score.
Given that Wolf riddle borrows imagery from the popular online slot game Wolf Gold, many players might expect a casino experience (similar to Scatter Slots). In fact, it is closer in gameplay to Magic Jigsaw Puzzles and the various other jigsaw puzzle apps available.
Three gameplay modes
Wolf riddle opens by asking the player to choose between three gameplay modes: Classic, Imported and 3D. In Classic, the object is to piece together fragments of a torn photograph. Imported uses traditional jigsaw pieces; despite the name, there's no option to import your own photos. 3D involves piecing together a broken vase.
One image per mode
While the three gameplay modes add some variety, the app is seriously limited by the fact that each mode has only one image. Classic has a single photograph of some ducks, and Imported has a single 5x6 jigsaw of a sunflower. 3D should be the most sophisticated but is the easiest, comprising a single jar with just four fragments.
A flawed puzzle experience
The limited number of puzzles is just one of several flaws in Wolf riddle. The interface is awkward, and the menu is designed to be viewed in portrait format. However, the puzzles themselves are landscape. The soundtrack consists of a short piece of music that is pretty at first — but soon becomes annoying when played on a loop.
A brief diversion
Wolf riddle might suit players looking for a brief, free diversion. Once the puzzles are completed, however, the app offers no reply value. The user cannot even spend their virtual coins on unlockable features. The three puzzles that you get with the app are all that it has to offer.
